Book Review: a vision of Lucy - Margaret Brownley

None of Lucy Fairbanks' skirt survived. They are mostly torn due to Lucy's act in taking photograph.
Photograph is Lucy's pasion. She intended to apply for a post at local newspaper, but the bos, Mr. Jacob Barnes, ask her to prove herself.

And so, Lucy did. She took a picture of the mysterious man, Rocky Creek wild man, which is actually a nice man, who save Lucy's life. But the newspaper blow the story. And that guy become most wanted.
And when bad things happened to several people, the wild man is blamed.
Lucy can't resist the attraction between him and David, the wild man. David appreciate Lucy's photograph as an art. Even his father won't say such a nice thing. On the other hand, David was once bullied by several boys, and almost drawn to death. Lucy learned how David's past influenced him, and made him grew up to take a revenge.
This book is about how God is forgiving, and as David learn to forgive, we should to.. Also we're taught not to give a prejudice.. :)
I got this e-book from BookSneeze.com as a part of Thomas Nelson community.

Korean Drama - Personal Taste

I finally get to watch this drama!! :D

Picture taken from: Personal Taste Channel on Viikii.net
So, this drama is actually recommended by my friend since almost six month ago.. And I just have time to watch it now..

It's sixteen episode, Broadcasted by MBC since March 2010.. And already ended :)

The story is adapted from a Korean-American Novel!!

Story Line..

About a girl, name Park Kae In, who felt rejected by his dad. His dad is a great known architech, and her mom passed away when she was a kid. Since then, her father seemed to pulled himself away.
Kae In grew up, and felt some heartaches due to friends' behaviours. And one day, she decided to be friend with a gay, named Jeon Jin-Ho.. And as she thought he was a gay, they lived together in her house.

On the other side, Jin Ho is actually a straight guy! He pretends to be gay in order to become a roommate to Park Kae In. His hobbies include organization and ironing, and he’s known for his stoic poker face. He's a president of an architecture company, who's dealing with some legal and money issue.
At the first, his intention moving to Kae In's house is to learn about the design of the house. But as time goes, he found something else ~love...

Due to some problems, here and there.. They broke up! And Jin Ho's worker submit a sketch, which actually belongs to Kae In's dad. Jin Ho's company got sued, and there are legal issues. He show that he's gentle, by admitting the copying.. And he face his worker's faulty, and proved his ability by submitting a new design to a competition.

However people underestimates him, as his previous issue is well known. Further more, Kae In's dad is one of the jury of the competition. He didn't like Jin Ho!
So JinHo had to deal with Kae In's dad regarding the design, and also to Kae In, coz their relationship is ended badly......

The ending? I'ld say it's sweet ending for everyone... just watch it!! :)

Korean Drama - Mary Stayed Out All Night

Also known as: Marry me, Mary.. 매리는 외박중 / Maerineun Oebakjoong ..

Story about Mae Rie, a daughter of lausy father (Wi Dae Han) who's in huge debt.. Their life was miserable as the debt collector kept coming.. But Mae Rie is a very nice girl, she tried all her best to keep her father save from the debt collectors.. She also does all effort to keep looking happy infront of everyone..
Oneday, she run out into a guy while driving. The guy was okay. But Mae Rie though he has a very beautiful face. Her friends insisted her to go to that guy, and ask him to sign a letter stating that he won't sue them..
After few stories, Mae Rie had to pretend that she has married with that guy. As her father ask her to married his rich friend's son (Jung In). Mae Rie started to be confused..

I'm so curious how it would end.. As now they still aired the drama in korea (KBS) and only twice a week.. Said it would be done by early december..
I guess the ending will be somewhat related to Christmas..

So it's ended on December.. Hate to say, I hate how the process goes.. During this 16 episodes, the writers are changed.
Episode 1-5
So if on the early episodes, i felt the relationship between Mae Ri and Kang Moo Gyul are cute ~ lovely.. And at the same time, I felt that Jung In is also need to be given a chance.. And i just simply in love with these guys, couldn't wait for watching the next episode to be uploaded either in Youtube, or vimeos, or anything.. (note: I couldn't understand korean, so I'll have to wait an english-sub movies uploaded)..
Episode 6-10
At the next five episode, i found the stories a bit unexpectedly boring.. and awkward.. ups.. Yeah, it's like those lovey-dovey thing keep on going, but then the father interupts, not to mention Seo Joon became nasty, and many other stuffs.. If it's not for Moon Geun Young, Jang Geun Suk, and Kim Jae Wook who captured my heart at those early episode, I won't keep on watching,..
Episode 11-16
Then the writer changed on episode 11, but i guessed a bit too late to save the drama.. Anyway, some bloggers may guessed that Mae Ri will stick with Moo Gyul.. and some (like me) wished that Jung In won her heart..
But at the end.. A marriage between Jung In and Mae Ri happened.. But.. it's only done coz Jung In wanted to show his dad that he's no more under his father's bad influence.. And Moo Gyul actually went broken hearted without knowing no marriage is done.. Mae Ri went to see him, and then those lovely chemistry between Mae Ri and Moo Gyul happened again (which reminds me to how i fall in love with this drama previously)..
To cut it shorter, at the end, no one marry.. They all went with their lives.. They're still young anyway!! And even the rude and money-possessed fathers learnt something..

Kuala Lumpur - 3 Days 2 Night Free and Easy

I just came back from Malaysia today. I went with 3 friends, and stayed two night at Kuala Lumpur.
During these 3 days, I'll say that we only have 1.5 days to explore the town, which is not enough!!
I'll try to share what I've been up to..

Day 1.

Went from Singapore by Five Star Bus.. Quite standard, Seats are comfortable, (2 in the right, 1 in the left). The bus basically took around 5 hours as we left at exactly 8 am and arrived at 2.30. We could actually choose where the dropping point in KL. And from the dropping point, we took a cab to our hotel.
We stayed at Mayview Glory hotel in Jalan Pudu Lama. The price is quite okay. We took the family room, which cost us in total 3x16 = 48 SGD. Oh, forgot to mentioned, 1 of us is a boy, so he stayed at nearby hostel, which cost him 17SGD.

Mayview Glory Hotel Review
Clean room, i think newly renovated. Got Air-con, so it's okay, but the room felt that it needs fresh air. The advantage side is that they cleaned the room each day, as long as you leave the key to the reception when you are leaving. The receptionist could speak mandarin, bahasa, and tamil (depends on the nationality of the person, coz basically there were 3 of them). Disadvantage: no breakfast, room cleaning might took quite long (our experience is that we arrived at 2.30, and they asked us to wait until 3. So we went out to our friend's hostel, and went back at 3.10, and the room is not ready!!)

Then we went to Kuala Lumpur tower. We decided to walk, which is in my opinion quite okay. It took us around 30 minutes, and we took the wrong entrance, which make us walk on a very steep land.. It was like a hiking! But, it was fun. We pay 38 ringgit for the entrance, and got the access to the view point, F1 simulator, free pony ride, and small zoo zone.

Kuala Lumpur Tower

Basically they provide you a tape, with monitor, and it's your guide. You could choose which window you're looking at. There are 11 of them, and you can choose the exact window's tape. They will tell you which building you can look through the window, and also a bit of malaysia's history. Oh, and I love that we could see the twin tower clearly, and I do took a good picture of twin tower from here.

Below, is another photo of KL's landscape, seen from the KL Tower..

I found the price i paid, not realy worthed, probably because I'm not really into history. All i want to do is just take pictures.. haha..

F1 simulator.
Basically they give you 4 minutes, to feel the feeling of F1 Driver. Man, it was hard! My car in the monitor kept on rotating! And when I felt I'm ready to drive, the time is up.. sighhh...

Small zoo zone
The birds in front are quite cute, esp. when it laugh, coz the laughter is contagious.
Inside, they showed mostly reptiles (snakes), some turtles (2 albino turtles, and a two-headed turtle). And the rest was not interesting for me.. sorry..

After finishing the photo session outside the KL Tower, we walked to KLCC (Petronas Twin Tower). The KL Tower management actually provide a shuttle bus to the main entrance gate, and from there, it took 25 minutes for us to walk to KLCC (see picture we took from below the tower).

The best spot to take photos of the whole tower is from the park. It was very crowded, but we manage to take several good photos.. yay!!

Then we're having dinner at the food court of the plaza. And we went back, walking for around 45 minutes. Arrived at the hotel, and tired of all the walking, we turned on the aircon. We watched the HBO channel, and felt asleep instantly.

Day 2

We eat breakfast at the hawker beside the restaurant. Food was nice, a nasi lemak and fried chicken, cost us about 6 ringgit each. And we decided to go to genting. We walked to the nearest LRT station, which is Masjid Jamek station, and went to Gombak (the end of the red line). Reaching Gombak, we are unhappy. It was a chinesse new year, so the bus to Genting is a bit rare. We arrived there at 10.30, only to find out that the next bus is on 12 pm. As there are too much time wasted, we choose to take a taxi (cost us about 15, so 4 x 15 = 60 ringgit). Remember to bargain!! The taxi driver drove us to the skyway main point. We initially thought that we could ride the skytrain. But the que was too long, and we decided to take another taxi from there to the Plaza (cost us 10 ringgit each --> 4 x 10 = 40 ringgit).

Lesson learned for taking taxi to Genting: bargain, if the driver refuse, ask other driver! don't forget to ask him to drive you to the plaza/genting casino instead of skyway.

We only went to see the haunted house and Ripley's believe it or not (entrance fee for both: 35 ringgit)
Haunted House is quite shocking as it was dark, and all of sudden they scared you!

Ripleys believe it or not is quite long, there were several rooms, and it would take almost 1.5 hour to finish, and if you read all the description, it would probably take 2-3 hours).

We have our lunch at the Food Court named Curry something, right behind the haunted house entrance. The price was expensived, but quite okay as you don't take too much. Basically they charge everything you take. Rice would cost 2 ringgit, chicken or nugget 6 ringgit, fishballs 3 ringgit, and so on.

And we look around the place, and we went back by skytrain.

This is the view from skytrain. A bit scary at the beginning, but it was fun, and you need to try it!!

Arriving at Gombak, we went to Masjid Jamek, and walked to the Lapangan Merdeka. It was fun to go there at night, coz the Ministry of Lighting and Information's building is quite entertaining. See the picture!

There were nothing else interesting. We ate at McD, and went back to hotel..

Day 3.

My day started greatly, but there is no relation with our trip (see this post)! Then we have our breakfast, and enjoyed the HBO Channel again. Our bus depart at 11.30, so we decided to leave the hotel at 10 am. Walked around 20 minutes to Berjaya time square, and do check in. So we decided to wait at starbucks. Thanks God they have wifi!! :)

We waited about an hour, and this time our bus, Star mart, went off a bit late. We left at around 12!

And sadly, no stopping at the restaurant. Only stop for a toilet! But we arrived around 4.30, which meant the bus was quite fast.. And arrived back at Singapore.. Yaaay!!

Batam - 1 Day Shopping Tour

I went to Batam with a bunch of friend last Saturday..

I couldn't sleep >_< so I was a bit afraid that I'll passed during our trip..

Korean Movie: Cyrano Agency (2010)

I was browsing through my favourite movie website, http://www.mysoju.com/ and as usual, I'm looking around their new movies..
I personally prefer movie than dramas, coz it's short.
There several new movies, but this movie attracts me..
CRYANO AGENCY.
I tried to open it, and it started with 2 guys on toilet doing their thing.. Ewwww...
And it stuck there! The streaming was so bad!! So I moved to youtube, wishing my self a good luck..
And I found it!! YAAY!! So yeah, here is my review..

The story..

There is this agency, consisting of three men and one woman. They love theather, and bought an old theather. They work as sort of cupid agency, helping men to get the women they love, without the women knowing.
They guarantee 100% success. The first case was a man, soccer player who loves a coffeeshop assistant. The agency helped groomed the men, from his appearance, his words, the dates and even the kissing. To cut the story, it was huge success!!
Then came the second case, a fund manager named Sang-yong. The bos of the agency, Byung-Hoon directly refuse the case after seeing the target. His workers ensure him that they do need the money, and a bit force him.. So Byung-Hoon accept the case, buuuut, asking for a high compensation.
Sang-yong was a bit surprised at the amount, but he agreed. So they helped Sang-Yong to prepare everything. The first attemp failed, Sang-Yong got banned from the church. And Byung-Hoon simply say sorry, and he's gonna refund the money. Sang-Yong got angry, and being emotional, he almost broke a chair. Suddenly his phone ringing, the girl, Hee-Joong, called. And so the case is still going..
Through the dates, Byung-Hoon realize that he still can not forget Hee-Joong, just as she can't forget him. Without realizing, Byung-Hoon one time ruined Sang-Yong's date plan, as Byung-Hoon stayed overnight in Hee-Joong's house. This ended up with Sang-Yong broke up with Hee-Joong.
But then Sang-Yong with the help of the rest of the team, manage to ask Byung-Hoon's help. And so Byung-Hoon's finally realize that it's for Hee-Joong's goodness.
They tried to plan another date.. Everything seemed perfect, until Sang-Yong forgot his script! And the only woman in the agency, knowing that Byung-Hoon still had guilt for Hee-Joong, she tricked, and at the end, getting Byung-Hoon said his feeling, to be said by Sang-Yong to Hee-Joong.. It was sort-of trauma release for Byung-Hoon.. Listening to things Sang-Yong said, Hee-Joong remembered Byung Hoon. She cried. Following the plan, Sang-Yong propose her at that moment, and it's on the beach!! :) But then... things got complicated as a loan came to beat Sang-Yong.. and he couldn't run!!
The story doesn't end here, but you should watch it! It was fun..

My comment..
I love simple love dramas... :) Some more, Lee Min Jeong's role is very cute.. And Park Shin-hye also played nicely as a romantic girl.. I also like Uhm Tae-woong's role as Byung Hoon.. I want a boyfriend like him!! haha.. why girls always fall for bad boys.. uhhh..
The first case was a bit boring, and I thought some of the acting really seems unrealistic.. hehe.. however, you'll get a surprise at the end, which I would say make the story felt real..
Anyway, the ending for the second case (Sang-Yong and Hee-Joong) is happy ending as expected. At first I thought this couple won't make it. I simply thought that Byung Hoon deserve more chances with Hee-Joong.. But no worries, at the final ending, I sense hope for Byung Hoon.. :)
I'm gonna sleep now, hopefully dreaming for Um Tae-woong!! Yayyyy..

Crazy Fans of Super Junior

Few days ago I reconnect with an old friend of mind who's really into Korean boy band, Suju..
If you never heard of them, Super Junior (Suju)  or 슈퍼주니어 is a group under S.M. Entertainment.
They used to be consisted of 12 members.. But few years ago (I forget when), a 13th member added.
As I heard from my friend, only 10 members seemed to be active..

Why I put the title "Crazy Fans of Super Junior"?
Well.. I heard from my friend, that few months ago, during a part of their SS3 show  in Malaysia, a group of Indonesian ELF sent a special gift for them. Oh ya, ELF stands for "Ever Lasting Friends", which is how Suju's fans are named. And, I found out that... They got GOLD medal! as in, REAL GOLD.. Which each cost around 1000USD?
and i was like.. "wow.. for real?"

I've never been into big fan thing like that.. I mean.. I do have some favourite artist.. But, all I did was supporting them by buying their cds and not downloading, buying their merch, and send cards on special occasion when it's their birthday. Oh, or that made me a crazy fan? :D

Anyway, Suju is a good band. They have existed since when I was in highschool... I remember I once gave an original cd/dvd of their studio album to my best friend.. And, it was really expensive at that time.. But she loves it for sure.. :D

Oh.. And I like their live concert dvds..  SM Town? I think we used to watch it while doing our assignment in university.. Old good times.. (As if I'm old) haha..

Anyway, to get more on Suju's Fans,
there are a lot of website I could link you to..
But, at this time, i think twitter do all the magic..

Go follow:
That's all i can find.. Oh well.. Have a good day!

Seek me with all your heart - Review

Seek Me with All Your Heart by Beth Wiseman follows Emily and David's families. Both have recently moved to a new community across the country from everything they have ever known. Both have hurts and secrets that cloud their judgement and make walls form. The story cuts into different family members thoughts and lives, but still doesn't interfere with the main story of the growing love of Emily and David. Follow Emily, David and the others as they open their hearts and learn to live in a new place with new people. It is a very relatable story even has the crabby old lady down the street and touches lightly on infidelity. Everyone will be able to see something and get something from this sweet story of love, heartache and growth.

It again was one of those stories you don't want to put down. After I finished reading it, I found myself with the desire to read more.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze®.com book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

A Fresh Graduate's Attempt to Write a Resume

I'll be graduating soon, and will start to look for job.
As a fresh graduate, writing a resume is one of the biggest challange.
I simply do not know how to start.
Thanks God for internet!
First step
I used google to seach resume writers sites.. And I found some good examples!
  1. http://www.resumewriters.com/ --> they have various examples, but none are directly for entry level/fresh graduate students..
  2. http://www.resumeedge.com/ --> they have the link at resumecenter section, which direct you to resume writing resources, and tips.. I used this site to discover several other websites which has resume examples.
  3. http://www.greatresumesfast.com/ --> they have various example of resumes, cover letters, and cv.
  4. actually there are many others site, just tried to google it...
Second Step
Start writing, be creative. Provide real facts about your self, your experience, and ofcourse choose the positive favts.

Third Step
After finishing the resume, I started to wonder, is my resume good? Luckily there are several websites providing a free resume review.. I send my resume to these two companies:
  1. http://www.asiaresumes.com/free-resume-review/ --> send the resume to cv@asiaresumes.com
  2. http://www.sandboxadvisors.com/ --> contact them through the link
Generally both companies pointed my resume's weaknesses. But the first company send me emails and refering my resume to their cv service.. I'm a bit confused there, shouldn't it be different??
In the other hand, I really appreciate the sandboxadvisor. The name of the person writing to me is Amit Puri. He said that my resume is simple, and pointed several bad points that can be improved generally, like the format, weak summary and objectives, also the importance of words used. Then the offer to write a resume based on my resume, and quote a certain price. As my intention was to get my resume reviewed, I told him that I'm trying to make my own resume, thanking him for his help. He replied nicely, and included several materials that might be useful. What i like is that they do not trying to sell their product, and they also provide me with several materials to prepare my resume.

Then I re-write my resume, and I just knew that my school, Nanyang Technological University, actually provide resume review in their Career and Attachment Office.. I felt so silly :)
I'm planing to drop by there sometime, and seek their advice on my resume.. Looking forward for it..!
Thanks for reading.

Sincerely,
Me.
