I just came back from Malaysia today. I went with 3 friends, and stayed two night at Kuala Lumpur.
During these 3 days, I'll say that we only have 1.5 days to explore the town, which is not enough!!
I'll try to share what I've been up to..
Day 1.
Went from Singapore by Five Star Bus.. Quite standard, Seats are comfortable, (2 in the right, 1 in the left). The bus basically took around 5 hours as we left at exactly 8 am and arrived at 2.30. We could actually choose where the dropping point in KL. And from the dropping point, we took a cab to our hotel.
We stayed at Mayview Glory hotel in Jalan Pudu Lama. The price is quite okay. We took the family room, which cost us in total 3x16 = 48 SGD. Oh, forgot to mentioned, 1 of us is a boy, so he stayed at nearby hostel, which cost him 17SGD.
Mayview Glory Hotel Review
Clean room, i think newly renovated. Got Air-con, so it's okay, but the room felt that it needs fresh air. The advantage side is that they cleaned the room each day, as long as you leave the key to the reception when you are leaving. The receptionist could speak mandarin, bahasa, and tamil (depends on the nationality of the person, coz basically there were 3 of them). Disadvantage: no breakfast, room cleaning might took quite long (our experience is that we arrived at 2.30, and they asked us to wait until 3. So we went out to our friend's hostel, and went back at 3.10, and the room is not ready!!)
Then we went to Kuala Lumpur tower. We decided to walk, which is in my opinion quite okay. It took us around 30 minutes, and we took the wrong entrance, which make us walk on a very steep land.. It was like a hiking! But, it was fun. We pay 38 ringgit for the entrance, and got the access to the view point, F1 simulator, free pony ride, and small zoo zone.
Kuala Lumpur Tower
Basically they provide you a tape, with monitor, and it's your guide. You could choose which window you're looking at. There are 11 of them, and you can choose the exact window's tape. They will tell you which building you can look through the window, and also a bit of malaysia's history. Oh, and I love that we could see the twin tower clearly, and I do took a good picture of twin tower from here.
Below, is another photo of KL's landscape, seen from the KL Tower..
I found the price i paid, not realy worthed, probably because I'm not really into history. All i want to do is just take pictures.. haha..
F1 simulator.
Basically they give you 4 minutes, to feel the feeling of F1 Driver. Man, it was hard! My car in the monitor kept on rotating! And when I felt I'm ready to drive, the time is up.. sighhh...
Small zoo zone
The birds in front are quite cute, esp. when it laugh, coz the laughter is contagious.
Inside, they showed mostly reptiles (snakes), some turtles (2 albino turtles, and a two-headed turtle). And the rest was not interesting for me.. sorry..
After finishing the photo session outside the KL Tower, we walked to KLCC (Petronas Twin Tower). The KL Tower management actually provide a shuttle bus to the main entrance gate, and from there, it took 25 minutes for us to walk to KLCC (see picture we took from below the tower).
The best spot to take photos of the whole tower is from the park. It was very crowded, but we manage to take several good photos.. yay!!
Then we're having dinner at the food court of the plaza. And we went back, walking for around 45 minutes. Arrived at the hotel, and tired of all the walking, we turned on the aircon. We watched the HBO channel, and felt asleep instantly.
Day 2
We eat breakfast at the hawker beside the restaurant. Food was nice, a nasi lemak and fried chicken, cost us about 6 ringgit each. And we decided to go to genting. We walked to the nearest LRT station, which is Masjid Jamek station, and went to Gombak (the end of the red line). Reaching Gombak, we are unhappy. It was a chinesse new year, so the bus to Genting is a bit rare. We arrived there at 10.30, only to find out that the next bus is on 12 pm. As there are too much time wasted, we choose to take a taxi (cost us about 15, so 4 x 15 = 60 ringgit). Remember to bargain!! The taxi driver drove us to the skyway main point. We initially thought that we could ride the skytrain. But the que was too long, and we decided to take another taxi from there to the Plaza (cost us 10 ringgit each --> 4 x 10 = 40 ringgit).
Lesson learned for taking taxi to Genting: bargain, if the driver refuse, ask other driver! don't forget to ask him to drive you to the plaza/genting casino instead of skyway.
We only went to see the haunted house and Ripley's believe it or not (entrance fee for both: 35 ringgit)
Haunted House is quite shocking as it was dark, and all of sudden they scared you!
Ripleys believe it or not is quite long, there were several rooms, and it would take almost 1.5 hour to finish, and if you read all the description, it would probably take 2-3 hours).
We have our lunch at the Food Court named Curry something, right behind the haunted house entrance. The price was expensived, but quite okay as you don't take too much. Basically they charge everything you take. Rice would cost 2 ringgit, chicken or nugget 6 ringgit, fishballs 3 ringgit, and so on.
And we look around the place, and we went back by skytrain.
This is the view from skytrain. A bit scary at the beginning, but it was fun, and you need to try it!!
Arriving at Gombak, we went to Masjid Jamek, and walked to the Lapangan Merdeka. It was fun to go there at night, coz the Ministry of Lighting and Information's building is quite entertaining. See the picture!
There were nothing else interesting. We ate at McD, and went back to hotel..
Day 3.
My day started greatly, but there is no relation with our trip (see
this post)! Then we have our breakfast, and enjoyed the HBO Channel again. Our bus depart at 11.30, so we decided to leave the hotel at 10 am. Walked around 20 minutes to Berjaya time square, and do check in. So we decided to wait at starbucks. Thanks God they have wifi!! :)
We waited about an hour, and this time our bus, Star mart, went off a bit late. We left at around 12!
And sadly, no stopping at the restaurant. Only stop for a toilet! But we arrived around 4.30, which meant the bus was quite fast.. And arrived back at Singapore.. Yaaay!!
