Book Review : Christmas Stories - Max Lucado

Hermie and Friends is the first Max Lucado's book that i've ever read. So when Nelson Publishing, through booksneeze introduce me to another fiction book by him, I am thrilled.
Christmas Stories.. The title said it all..!
Basically it's like a collection of short stories he wrote, with a general theme, christmas.
He wrote stories about men, women, children, and even angels who are affected with Christ's birth.
I would say how he describe Christ's birth from Angel Gabriel's view is interesting.
Certainly this book is good for the season, very heart-warming, and it will be fun to read it with family.
It kinda remind me of reading chicken soup for the souls though.. I may going to read that book now :p

Book Review: a vision of Lucy - Margaret Brownley

None of Lucy Fairbanks' skirt survived. They are mostly torn due to Lucy's act in taking photograph.
Photograph is Lucy's pasion. She intended to apply for a post at local newspaper, but the bos, Mr. Jacob Barnes, ask her to prove herself.

And so, Lucy did. She took a picture of the mysterious man, Rocky Creek wild man, which is actually a nice man, who save Lucy's life. But the newspaper blow the story. And that guy become most wanted.
And when bad things happened to several people, the wild man is blamed.
Lucy can't resist the attraction between him and David, the wild man. David appreciate Lucy's photograph as an art. Even his father won't say such a nice thing. On the other hand, David was once bullied by several boys, and almost drawn to death. Lucy learned how David's past influenced him, and made him grew up to take a revenge.
This book is about how God is forgiving, and as David learn to forgive, we should to.. Also we're taught not to give a prejudice.. :)
I got this e-book from BookSneeze.com as a part of Thomas Nelson community.

Korean Drama - Personal Taste

I finally get to watch this drama!! :D

Picture taken from: Personal Taste Channel on Viikii.net
So, this drama is actually recommended by my friend since almost six month ago.. And I just have time to watch it now..

It's sixteen episode, Broadcasted by MBC since March 2010.. And already ended :)

The story is adapted from a Korean-American Novel!!

Story Line..

About a girl, name Park Kae In, who felt rejected by his dad. His dad is a great known architech, and her mom passed away when she was a kid. Since then, her father seemed to pulled himself away.
Kae In grew up, and felt some heartaches due to friends' behaviours. And one day, she decided to be friend with a gay, named Jeon Jin-Ho.. And as she thought he was a gay, they lived together in her house.

On the other side, Jin Ho is actually a straight guy! He pretends to be gay in order to become a roommate to Park Kae In. His hobbies include organization and ironing, and he’s known for his stoic poker face. He's a president of an architecture company, who's dealing with some legal and money issue.
At the first, his intention moving to Kae In's house is to learn about the design of the house. But as time goes, he found something else ~love...

Due to some problems, here and there.. They broke up! And Jin Ho's worker submit a sketch, which actually belongs to Kae In's dad. Jin Ho's company got sued, and there are legal issues. He show that he's gentle, by admitting the copying.. And he face his worker's faulty, and proved his ability by submitting a new design to a competition.

However people underestimates him, as his previous issue is well known. Further more, Kae In's dad is one of the jury of the competition. He didn't like Jin Ho!
So JinHo had to deal with Kae In's dad regarding the design, and also to Kae In, coz their relationship is ended badly......

The ending? I'ld say it's sweet ending for everyone... just watch it!! :)

Korean Drama - Mary Stayed Out All Night

Also known as: Marry me, Mary.. 매리는 외박중 / Maerineun Oebakjoong ..

Story about Mae Rie, a daughter of lausy father (Wi Dae Han) who's in huge debt.. Their life was miserable as the debt collector kept coming.. But Mae Rie is a very nice girl, she tried all her best to keep her father save from the debt collectors.. She also does all effort to keep looking happy infront of everyone..
Oneday, she run out into a guy while driving. The guy was okay. But Mae Rie though he has a very beautiful face. Her friends insisted her to go to that guy, and ask him to sign a letter stating that he won't sue them..
After few stories, Mae Rie had to pretend that she has married with that guy. As her father ask her to married his rich friend's son (Jung In). Mae Rie started to be confused..

I'm so curious how it would end.. As now they still aired the drama in korea (KBS) and only twice a week.. Said it would be done by early december..
I guess the ending will be somewhat related to Christmas..

So it's ended on December.. Hate to say, I hate how the process goes.. During this 16 episodes, the writers are changed.
Episode 1-5
So if on the early episodes, i felt the relationship between Mae Ri and Kang Moo Gyul are cute ~ lovely.. And at the same time, I felt that Jung In is also need to be given a chance.. And i just simply in love with these guys, couldn't wait for watching the next episode to be uploaded either in Youtube, or vimeos, or anything.. (note: I couldn't understand korean, so I'll have to wait an english-sub movies uploaded)..
Episode 6-10
At the next five episode, i found the stories a bit unexpectedly boring.. and awkward.. ups.. Yeah, it's like those lovey-dovey thing keep on going, but then the father interupts, not to mention Seo Joon became nasty, and many other stuffs.. If it's not for Moon Geun Young, Jang Geun Suk, and Kim Jae Wook who captured my heart at those early episode, I won't keep on watching,..
Episode 11-16
Then the writer changed on episode 11, but i guessed a bit too late to save the drama.. Anyway, some bloggers may guessed that Mae Ri will stick with Moo Gyul.. and some (like me) wished that Jung In won her heart..
But at the end.. A marriage between Jung In and Mae Ri happened.. But.. it's only done coz Jung In wanted to show his dad that he's no more under his father's bad influence.. And Moo Gyul actually went broken hearted without knowing no marriage is done.. Mae Ri went to see him, and then those lovely chemistry between Mae Ri and Moo Gyul happened again (which reminds me to how i fall in love with this drama previously)..
To cut it shorter, at the end, no one marry.. They all went with their lives.. They're still young anyway!! And even the rude and money-possessed fathers learnt something..

Kuala Lumpur - 3 Days 2 Night Free and Easy

I just came back from Malaysia today. I went with 3 friends, and stayed two night at Kuala Lumpur.
During these 3 days, I'll say that we only have 1.5 days to explore the town, which is not enough!!
I'll try to share what I've been up to..

Day 1.

Went from Singapore by Five Star Bus.. Quite standard, Seats are comfortable, (2 in the right, 1 in the left). The bus basically took around 5 hours as we left at exactly 8 am and arrived at 2.30. We could actually choose where the dropping point in KL. And from the dropping point, we took a cab to our hotel.
We stayed at Mayview Glory hotel in Jalan Pudu Lama. The price is quite okay. We took the family room, which cost us in total 3x16 = 48 SGD. Oh, forgot to mentioned, 1 of us is a boy, so he stayed at nearby hostel, which cost him 17SGD.

Mayview Glory Hotel Review
Clean room, i think newly renovated. Got Air-con, so it's okay, but the room felt that it needs fresh air. The advantage side is that they cleaned the room each day, as long as you leave the key to the reception when you are leaving. The receptionist could speak mandarin, bahasa, and tamil (depends on the nationality of the person, coz basically there were 3 of them). Disadvantage: no breakfast, room cleaning might took quite long (our experience is that we arrived at 2.30, and they asked us to wait until 3. So we went out to our friend's hostel, and went back at 3.10, and the room is not ready!!)

Then we went to Kuala Lumpur tower. We decided to walk, which is in my opinion quite okay. It took us around 30 minutes, and we took the wrong entrance, which make us walk on a very steep land.. It was like a hiking! But, it was fun. We pay 38 ringgit for the entrance, and got the access to the view point, F1 simulator, free pony ride, and small zoo zone.

Kuala Lumpur Tower

Basically they provide you a tape, with monitor, and it's your guide. You could choose which window you're looking at. There are 11 of them, and you can choose the exact window's tape. They will tell you which building you can look through the window, and also a bit of malaysia's history. Oh, and I love that we could see the twin tower clearly, and I do took a good picture of twin tower from here.

Below, is another photo of KL's landscape, seen from the KL Tower..

I found the price i paid, not realy worthed, probably because I'm not really into history. All i want to do is just take pictures.. haha..

F1 simulator.
Basically they give you 4 minutes, to feel the feeling of F1 Driver. Man, it was hard! My car in the monitor kept on rotating! And when I felt I'm ready to drive, the time is up.. sighhh...

Small zoo zone
The birds in front are quite cute, esp. when it laugh, coz the laughter is contagious.
Inside, they showed mostly reptiles (snakes), some turtles (2 albino turtles, and a two-headed turtle). And the rest was not interesting for me.. sorry..

After finishing the photo session outside the KL Tower, we walked to KLCC (Petronas Twin Tower). The KL Tower management actually provide a shuttle bus to the main entrance gate, and from there, it took 25 minutes for us to walk to KLCC (see picture we took from below the tower).

The best spot to take photos of the whole tower is from the park. It was very crowded, but we manage to take several good photos.. yay!!

Then we're having dinner at the food court of the plaza. And we went back, walking for around 45 minutes. Arrived at the hotel, and tired of all the walking, we turned on the aircon. We watched the HBO channel, and felt asleep instantly.

Day 2

We eat breakfast at the hawker beside the restaurant. Food was nice, a nasi lemak and fried chicken, cost us about 6 ringgit each. And we decided to go to genting. We walked to the nearest LRT station, which is Masjid Jamek station, and went to Gombak (the end of the red line). Reaching Gombak, we are unhappy. It was a chinesse new year, so the bus to Genting is a bit rare. We arrived there at 10.30, only to find out that the next bus is on 12 pm. As there are too much time wasted, we choose to take a taxi (cost us about 15, so 4 x 15 = 60 ringgit). Remember to bargain!! The taxi driver drove us to the skyway main point. We initially thought that we could ride the skytrain. But the que was too long, and we decided to take another taxi from there to the Plaza (cost us 10 ringgit each --> 4 x 10 = 40 ringgit).

Lesson learned for taking taxi to Genting: bargain, if the driver refuse, ask other driver! don't forget to ask him to drive you to the plaza/genting casino instead of skyway.

We only went to see the haunted house and Ripley's believe it or not (entrance fee for both: 35 ringgit)
Haunted House is quite shocking as it was dark, and all of sudden they scared you!

Ripleys believe it or not is quite long, there were several rooms, and it would take almost 1.5 hour to finish, and if you read all the description, it would probably take 2-3 hours).

We have our lunch at the Food Court named Curry something, right behind the haunted house entrance. The price was expensived, but quite okay as you don't take too much. Basically they charge everything you take. Rice would cost 2 ringgit, chicken or nugget 6 ringgit, fishballs 3 ringgit, and so on.

And we look around the place, and we went back by skytrain.

This is the view from skytrain. A bit scary at the beginning, but it was fun, and you need to try it!!

Arriving at Gombak, we went to Masjid Jamek, and walked to the Lapangan Merdeka. It was fun to go there at night, coz the Ministry of Lighting and Information's building is quite entertaining. See the picture!

There were nothing else interesting. We ate at McD, and went back to hotel..

Day 3.

My day started greatly, but there is no relation with our trip (see this post)! Then we have our breakfast, and enjoyed the HBO Channel again. Our bus depart at 11.30, so we decided to leave the hotel at 10 am. Walked around 20 minutes to Berjaya time square, and do check in. So we decided to wait at starbucks. Thanks God they have wifi!! :)

We waited about an hour, and this time our bus, Star mart, went off a bit late. We left at around 12!

And sadly, no stopping at the restaurant. Only stop for a toilet! But we arrived around 4.30, which meant the bus was quite fast.. And arrived back at Singapore.. Yaaay!!
